Apple iOS 6.1 available for Developers

by Chris Rathborne

Apple has again started a series of new releases for its pending update of its iOS platform.  There are a string of new goodies that are already becoming apparent and it has us all clamoring again to see what will be brought to the devices next.  Just some of the new features have become obvious such as:

  • Improvements in the interface designs seem to be on the go.
  • The “report a problem’ function in maps has been made more prominent and easier to find, reach and press.  I can hear the sniggering already at the idea of Apple’s problem reporting function requiring attention.

  • Music controls on the lock screen seem to be on the improve, slight changes for useability.  Which is an interesting insight into the gradual improvement processes that even Apple applies.  Its often thought that Apple, like many of the big ones, go throughe extensive testing and user reviews – but clearly they too make small improvements along the way.  The neat little reflection is kinda cool too.

Its unclear when it will be available, early pickings are that it will be somewhere just this side of Christmas – but the inside tip here is that it should be in time for the new iPad 4 which too is just in time for the Christmas stockings.
