First, and so far one of the most bizarre things is the events around Michael Bay’s presentation with Samsung. After a series of minor mishaps, teleprompters and timings, he has walked off the stage only just going in to the interview. I’ll let you watch the video here first before going in to the detail.
The multi award winning blockbuster director, who is notorious for his attention to detail when he is behind the camera seemed completely lost at first when he accidentally spoke over the top of the announcer. He moved to a whole other range of emotions when the teleprompter, confused by the events moved the content being presented and this excacerbated the situation and Michael Bay then walked off the stage just 90 seconds into his presentation.
The events were bizarre enough itself, but the impact on the CES 2014 has been a new social media phenomenon. All too often people are asking each other if they saw the event (like who hasn’t) and then the comments start. Twitter was abuzz, youtube has dozens of posts offering people the means to see it.

Wow! I just embarrassed myself at CES – I was about to speak for Samsung for this awesome Curved 105-inch UHD TV. I rarely lend my name to any products, but this one is just stellar. I got so excited to talk, that I skipped over the Exec VP’s intro line and then the teleprompter got lost. Then the prompter went up and down – then I walked off. I guess live shows aren’t my thing.
But I’m doing a special curved screen experience with Samsung and Transformers 4 footage that will be traveling around the world.
